Leipzig F. A. Brockhaus 1922 Not First Edition Softcover Fair with no dust jacket; The pages of this book are tanned and have come almost completely unglued from the paper cover. There is a very small bent down area on the front cover, tears to the cover for approximately 1" at the bottom of the spine, and a crease on the bottom of the cover on the back. Faint pencil notation at top of back cover. Text block is cracked, separated from paper covers, and separated into three section. Cover papers not attached to text block and almost separated into three pieces.
This "English Library" edition of some of the earliest of A. Conan Doyle's stories was printed in Germany and the cover states "This Volume may not be (imported) . . . Ireland, or the British Colonies. " Part of this wording is obscured by the bookstore label from "Libreria Bemporad Trieste Piazza Della Corsa 10" and "LIR Bologna. The cover art wraps around from the front cover to the back, and is a vividly-colored watercolor of red poppies in the foreground, with the sea and sailboats along the coast in the background. The stories include: "The Gully of Bluemansdyke, " "The Parson of Jackman's Gulch, " "My Friend the Murderer, " "The Silver Hatchet, " and more. These stories were originally published in 1889, and these do not include Sherlock Holmes. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 315 pages
